Q 01I hold an MPhil in Finance but no PhD. Can I apply for the Assistant Professor position?
No. The Assistant Professor position at NUML Quetta Campus requires a PhD in the relevant field from an HEC-recognized university — this is a firm eligibility condition, not a preference. An MPhil alone, regardless of your grades or teaching experience, does not satisfy the qualification requirement for this rank. However, your MPhil with First Class results makes you eligible for the Lecturer position, provided you have no third division anywhere in your academic record and your degree was awarded after 18 years of education from an HEC-recognized institution. You should apply for the Lecturer post and work toward completing your PhD to qualify for Assistant Professor in future recruitments.
Q 02I have a second division in my BA but First Class in MS Finance. Am I eligible for the Lecturer post?
The Lecturer eligibility condition states “no 3rd division in the entire academic career” — a second division is not a third division, so a second division at BA level does not automatically disqualify you. What matters is that you have no third division at any level from Matric through to your MS. If your full academic record shows no third division — even if some degrees are second division — you meet this particular condition. Your First Class MS Finance places your highest qualification at the required standard. Ensure your MS was awarded after 18 years of education and from an HEC-recognized university, and you can proceed with confidence.
Q 03What does “posted anywhere in Pakistan” mean — does that include being transferred away from Quetta?
Yes. The terms and conditions explicitly state that selected candidates may be posted anywhere in Pakistan as per university requirements. NUML operates multiple campuses across the country, and as a federal university, it retains the right to deploy contract staff at any of its campuses based on institutional need. While you are applying for Quetta Campus positions, you should be fully prepared for the possibility of being assigned to another campus during your contract period.
